VPN and multiplay request
« on: August 21, 2011, 03:01:44 AM »
Hello all,

I have setup a router today(one of those days) that should be able to host 8 vpn connections for lan multiplay.
Its running in its own v-lan out site my own network
This is a fritzbox 7170 dedicated only for vpn, not top of the bill but hey it works(ill hope).
there are so many other tunneling provider that are still free while beta. So lets give it a try. My connection 40Mbit/4Mbit is based in Netherlands.

Please help me testing this. If you are on windows 7 you need a program called ShrewSoft VPN Client. Windows xp can use the Fritzbox vpn client.(in the future its possible to connect with the windows standaard vpn connections)
Still working on that.

You wil need a access file with the key, so let me know when your up for testing it":) I can mail all 8 connection certs in once for who is interested. No ip adress restrictions, with other words everyone can use those cert.

If works ok it will be online 24/7 for all shmods forum users.
Are there more people around with a ICT background ?
Also have cisco pix515 that can handle a bit more connections then the fritzbox but still need to find a good place for it, its a little noisy :D

Greets all  lam1

Wow, that sounds very technical. I'm not up for it myself. I'm busy with lots of other stuff, but good luck with the project.  thup1

Before you write me a pm, ask yourself, if it ain't better to write it in the forum. It usually is.

Thx ! Just finished with a better and fare more easy (for most poeple) solution, a bit overkill(server). Its now possible to use the standaard pptp of windows.
about 30 connections possible for SH games. Still working on the pakket filters, so it only can be used for what its for.

If anyone whats to give a test drive let me know, and ill pm you the account details. Can't wait to hunt some fine ships with a modded sh, btw since i play the modded versions of sh, i want nothing else anymore. Its so much better then the stock versions. Makes you wonder if the right people worked on the project(the historical, looks, sounds ect) from the beginning ??
Thanks to all the MOD creators for making sh more then compleet, and ubi you should thank the mod makers also because they finished the game for you ;)

Hello all,

Its up and running. All separated in its own v-lan with no direct access to the main network. Implemented muticasting for better performance.
This is much better for lan games then unicast. Ping with unicast whas around 35 60 ms. With multicast around 1 or 10 ms.
Anyone up for a game of sh or you want to test it yourself with others ?,  please let me know  mat1

ps iam not google and i wont steal your personel data ;) but dont abuse the network(the log file will sink your ship  lam1)

Greetings all
