New to Silent Hunter III

As the subject suggests, I just purchased Silent Hunter III.  I'm a big fan of strategy, cunning, and stealth.  My uncle told me about this game years ago and I recently came across it and decided to dive in.  I guess I'll start by asking what mods and/or patches a beginner would want to load before beginning the game as well as what I would need to download and install to be able to run the mods/patches.  Thanks!

Otherwise, try the game first, that is go through the tutorial missions, uboat school, first, and then you can exit and load up mods, which you should do with help from JSGME, a program to easiyl add and remove mods. There's another link somewhere in this forum to the latest version.

LSH3 v5 is a supermod which adds a bit of everything, you'll see...

Sweet! thanks for the info.  As for crabbing stories, I have none though I have some pretty fun commercial fishing stories.  You might have looked at my ping to see that I am from Alaska.  A good number of my friends commercial fish work out around those crabbers in the Bering Sea.  As for me, I'm planning on either A) going back to school mid august for music at the University of Idaho, or B) Go to Nome, AK (right on the Bering ) for some gold mining.  I want to get this game down well before I go anywhere so I can have something fun to do that won't cost me anything more than my spare time =D  Cheers

Gold mining  good luck with that I read about the new deposits
turning up as the ice cap retreats.
As for Silent Hunter 3 I also use Living Silent Hunter v3 it gives great
eye candy BUT needs a lot of system resources to run so don't forget
to find the 4GB patch mod.
