New member with a question.

 I just reloaded SH5 after I came across this forum and read about the work around. My question is, does this workaround rid the need for a constant internet connection in order to play? Or is that a whole nother matter? I'm not PC savvy so, well, need I say more?

As none of us who regally post in these forums use this "work around"
due to the fact our internet connections are steady and don't drop a connection.
but the original poster has stated that it removes the need for a connection to Ubi. 
you must have a legal copy of SH5 to use it.

 I have a legal copy, but sometimes I'd just like to use a laptop in my easy chair.

 I also have a good connection but have to wonder how much of a better performance I might get offline. I would think that some performance is wasted on the need to send info across the cable instead of just to the processor.

It has been said by Ubisoft that you now only need to be connected to start the game
once started your connection is no longer needed if you have set your game settings to
save to hard drive this should be right.

The text workaround is allowed here, talk about crack programs is not allowed.

the text workaround should be enough for a player using SH5 on a laptop far from an internet connection, if it is a legal copy. whether this is completely true is yet unknown. I have tried the game elsewhere, but don't own it myself - yet. not willing to pay full price for it. but it seemed to work fine. maybe you just miss out on some features....  AFAIR, SH5 has a hall of fame of all community players world wide built in to the game. this is missing I would say, as an example. performance difference is probably a minor problem nowadays with most connections and pc rigs.

 Missing something in the workaround is more than possible for me. I still need to connect to the internet after working through the instructions and making the changes. I suppose I missed a change somewhere. I understand the author is trying to educate, but for me, one who doesn't have a PC oriented mind, the description of all the files and what they do just confuses the issue.
