Greetings fellow virtual submariners...
« on: August 14, 2011, 08:21:58 AM »
I recently returned to the Silent Hunter world after being away for far too long. I bought SH5 (YES, an original copy), but the DRM is bloody irritating as I do not have a persisten internet connection available for the next few weeks!!! I downloaded a crack, but apparently you can't complete missions if you are not connected to the interwebs :P. I need assistance with this please, otherwise I will have to return to SH4, but I really like SH5, especially after a few mods.

Any help would be appreciated.

I wouldn't walk around and mention that I downloaded a crack, if I were you.  sm09 Besides, what I read about it, it doesn't work properly anyway - even the devs told so, because they had a look at it. So best to get rid of it. And it was made for 1.1, and not 1.2
There should be a workaround if you mess with some text save files in a tutorial, but I haven't checked to see if it works.
But then play SH4 untill you get the internet back.

Anyway, I'll open for you, so you can look around logged in.

Before you write me a pm, ask yourself, if it ain't better to write it in the forum. It usually is.

Downloading the Crack is one way of seeing the game play
but that is all it cant do what it says as it don't work right
in fact its crap.
I now play SH5 again with OH II installed with all the other mods I use
and to be frank its well worth a silly think called DRM to play.
Although saying that the only time I see any communication between the
game and UBISOFT is as the game starts and also ends I don't even notice
the DRM any more.
stating you use a crack should get you banned on many sites but it seems Carotio
has cut you some slack on this but I would not push it.

So  urWelcome to SHMF Spuismunis try looking at the SH5 mods sections there are some
great works there.

I was going to buy SH5 originally (seeing as how I have all the preceding versions of the series, including Commander's Edition), but after hearing the crap about how 'you have to be connected to the internet to play the game' I said 'screw it' and DLed the Gray Wolves expansion pack for SH3 instead. Now, if they ever release a version of SH5 that fixes all the bugs and makes gameplay 'internet free' (laughable I know, but hey...one can always hope! :)), I'll reconsider purchasing it.

Until then, if you want a premier subsim, get SH3 and then DL the GWX 3.0...you won't regret it!

Best,
