Don't know why I haven't registered sooner if I'm honest, I've been popping in as a guest to this site quite often, but finally grabbed the confidence to do it now I've got my Silent Hunter 3 running with my mod loadout.
Seeing as I'm the only person I know who's into sub sims (and get strange looks from my local game dealers whenever I query them :P) it's great to know that there are other avid sub fans out there.
My favourite Silent Hunter has got to be SH3 (well it has to be, I love the european naval theatre of war and my system refuses to run SH5 lol) especially thanks to all the modders that keep the game alive and fresh and it's great to be a part of a community that has so much talent :)

And as a fellow SH3 fan I also think that it's the best of all the versions
As it's the only version with "return to appeal" and as for your "Rig" not running
Silent Hunter 5 think yourself lucky. this was such a promising game that was
left not completed and with many stupid little faults.
It could of been the best version ever but falls short of SH3 for playability yes I
know there are mods out there but these should be to enhance the game play
not make it playable.
As with most I played sh5 and finished the war with it and was totally disappointed so now it sits on the shelf and De-installed from my computer.

I agree.
Considering SH5 was built on the experience of previous releases and knowledge of all the mod work I feel that Sh5 was dissapointing.
I know that there are great modders out there bringing together some supermods to improve the game.
I'll certainly give it another try when these mods have developed, but for now I am back enjoying SH3
