Been hanging around SubSim since 2006
Played SH series and enjoyed SH3 with GWX until I upgraded to visa 64 two years ago and could play SH3 no longer.
Really got immersed in SH3/GWX and really enjoyed the mods that the modding community made available.
Somehow never got into SH4 as much but then I did not have the Pacific U Boat Missions add on and so could not install the updated supermods.
Changed my internet package recently and so picked up a copy of SH5.
Now returning to the battle of the Atlantic after the two year stint ashore

Well, urWelcome to SHMF, the forum is now open for you.
Though there still ain't many mods for SH5 here, but they may come... :)

sorry to hear your copy of SH3 would not work on you newer rig just wondering did you try
the starforce removal program as starforce free versions seem to run on anything scrtg

You're welcome. The anti-spam board does not only serve to limit forum spam, but it serves also to make new members less shy and get a welcome from older members.

Yes I tried the starforce removal tool but no joy.
I understand that SH3 can run on Vista and Win7 32 bit but not 64 bit.
If I ever find there is a workaround I would probably give Sh3+GWX another go

That is a shame I will always keep SH3 on my conputer
because I love to go back to it.
although saying that I play it more than any other version
my version is a Starforce free copy and I run it on Windows 7 64bit edition thup1

Oh really - thats interesting.
I might just invest in a modern copy then.
Any way to be sure that I am buying a starforce free copy, like on amazon?
-
Nearly all new copys out there are starforce free
if you order via subsim they get some commision on it and their link is to the starforce free version thup1
P.s PCWorld also stock the starforce free version and it cost about £4.99 pstgossip
-
For that price I will try it out and see how it works out.
Thanks for the advice

Before buying the starforce free version, there is a collection of files, which makes it unnecessary to buy for those allready having one of the eldest versions.
There's an English version of the guide how to find out how in the ubi forum.
Maybe I should repost it here for you and others...
EDIT:
and there you are:
