Ahoy, Dan from Vancouver here

I just picked up Silent Hunter 4 on steam a few days ago. I've had a fascination with navies and ships since I grew up on a sailboat in the Caribbean, and for  submarines ever since I read The Hunt for Red October in highschool. I'm a ferry captain and a private pilot; I love anything that flies or floats, or dives I suppose. I can't believe I never picked up a silent hunter game before this week!

I'm only interested in playing on high realism, and about an hour ago I finally managed to score my first two manual torpedo hits... I almost jumped out of my seat  hura1
I have the entire uncut version of Das Boot on DVD and it's so great to have a game that can capture the various submarine warfare feelings the way the film did. The long wait after you shoot praying that your fish finds the target. And I got attacked by aircraft early on and all that was missing as I panicked to find the dive button was someone screaming ALAAARRRM

Soon as I finish modding in some content for the grammaphone and radio I'm going to start my second go at the campaign and try to actually hit something this time  2guns I plan to mod the living hell out of the game after one vanilla playthrough. If I get really into the game I'll probably pick up the Uboat missions expansion.

Other games/sims I play include ARMA3 (modded), DCS Flaming Cliffs, IL2 Sturmovik Cliffs of Dover with the (amazing) Team Fusion mod, Skyrim (with about a million mods including frostfall and other tough survival mods) and Wargame Airland Battle.

Very glad to have a silent hunter game in my library now   mat1
