: Need Help on Adding Mods

This looks like a great site and I'm excited about modding SH5 into a playable game after almost two years of collecting dust. The problem is.....there's too much stuff! So, I was hoping someone familiar with all the mods could help me decide on how to spruce things up with the following goals in mind:

1. I basically want an SH3 game in an SH5 shell, that is in terms of user interfaces.
2. I want a historically correct game in terms of insignia, weapon strength, etc...
3. I would prefer to hear the game in the German language.

Based on these criteria, how would you mod the game?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Fred

Perfect, thank you Sir!

Also, I think I heard that Ubi doesn't make you connect to the internet every time you play the game. I still seem to connect and it auto checks to be sure I have the latest version. This seems wrong to me. What should the start up experience be like?

OK, also got two out of the three mods working and they're great. The interface mod is a bit trickier since moving the dial.dds of choice did not work for me. My path for the mod differed from the documentation, but when I tried to paste the dial.dds in the folder I thought it needed to be in I still saw the old gauges. Here is my mod path:

C:\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter 5\MODS\NewUIs_TDC_6_9_0_ByTheDarkWraith

I add the dial.dds before enabling the mod, but still no dice. Anyone have idiot proof instructions on how to get SH3 gauges?

Wow its a long time since I set up the dials but I do remember you have to follow
TDW instructions to the letter.  hmmmmmmmmmmm

Never did get the dials working, but I'm also getting used to the standard interface. It's not quite as immersive as the old style dials, but I'm living with it.

The graphics in general are amazing though! I applied sober's light effect mod and it is truly beautiful. I've spent some time fishing the canyons off the eastern seaboard of the US and mornings look very, very similar - and breathtaking.

Thanks mod community!
