News:

SHMF has been alive for almost 6 years thanks to a few dedicated members.
However, most visitors were ungrateful and did not appreciate the reliable hosting of mods for our SH games.
Hence, the domain: silenthuntermods.com has been abandonned, and the forum itself has been saved on another subdomain in order to save some valuable posts. However, the mods...  well, there ain't room for them on the server, so the download links don't work anymore for most of them, unless the mods will be put up elsewhere by the modders themselves...
Personally, my own mods will be stored at mediafire, asap...

Regards,
Carotio

Regarding site and forum down time
« on: January 20, 2011, 04:34:52 PM »

This is the message from my host provider regarding the down time. It's all about some unscheduled server maintenance and nothing should be lost or impossible to recover. When it's all over, and if someone finds a download link not working, then don't be afraid to post about it as response to this post. Then we'll try to fix it asap.

Service Status Update: (20.01.2011 – 11:30 AM GMT)

CP10 operation is fully restored and is backonline, all websites and emails are fully functional and without data loss.
CP13 restoration is in progress … estimated time to be braught back online late this afternoon.

Service Status Update: (20.01.2011 – 09:20 AM GMT)

We would like to announce that the service restore is in progress.
Please be advised that NO data will be lost, all websites and all emails are going to be safely recovered.
We are starting one by one the affected services and today most of the servers should be back online.
All services should be back to normal until tomorrow morning 21.01.2011 at 12:00 GMT time.

Below is a statement from our CEO.

Dear Valued Customers,
We understand that this downtime is affecting you all and believe me our all team is really doing its best for a second 24 hour shift to recover your sites.
Here is what happened and what measures we are taking to recover and prevent from further problems of this nature.
We have been hit by the worst disaster ever in our 8 years history as a web hosting service.
After the massive flood attacks that our systems received parts of our enterprise storage clusters became corrupt and were not able to serve your websites normally.
These unforeseen circumstances forced us to stop some of our services in order to speed up the data restore process.
I would like to assure you that this crash made us learn our lesson, and we are taking further protective measures to reinforce our firewall and DDoS mitigation systems as well as to quadruple our disk array storage redundancy in order to avoid the necessity of restoring from the backups and ensure full data protection.
I once more thank you for all your support that you have expressed during these last hard 48h for our team. Your understanding and patience is the one thing that motivates us even better to continue our work and strike back against those who are trying to harm us and you – our users.
Yours faithfully.
AwardSpace CEO

Maintenance notification: Thursday, Jan 20-th, 2011

We would like to summarize what has happened during the long maintenance we are getting through. Please read carefully and if you have any questions please contact our support team by opening a ticket or sending an email to -removed-.

Yesterday, Jan 18 at about 14:30 GMT the storage containing the user data suffered slow performance and several of the hard disks on some of the servers have been affected by a hardware failure. Our team of administrators has been trying to identify the problem and recover the situation since then.

We have tried to identify the hardware storage problems, but since the hard disks recovery was not performing fast, we decided to launch a temporary version of the affected user data from another server. The user data that was used to keep the online presence of the affected websites was taken from the recent backups we have. Some of you might have noticed in the last hours that their files are not the latest ones. The reason is that affected hard disks are in a process of recovery and accounts have been bound to work with the latest and fastest backup copy we have.

Currently we are doing force recovery of the affected hard disks to restore the original data from yesterday. Once this is done we shall reinstate the data and continue normal service function. Unfortunately expected time for service recovery cannot be specified because it is depends on the hard disks hardware failures.

We would like to apologize for the technical difficulties and the inconvenience caused during the last long hours. We are thankful for your understanding and cooperation!
